Career History
Denny has devoted his professional life to teaching, coaching, and
counseling others. After seven years' service as a Naval officer and
carrier pilot, he entered graduate school to pursue a career in human
services. He has worked as a family therapist, organizational consultant,
and graduate school educator since 1975, helping people to expand
their personal and professional capacities. Throughout his career
he has woven individual growth and development into the broader contexts
of group process and systemic theory and practice.
Teaching is the central focus of Denny's professional life. He
has been a faculty member, administrator and leader in the education
of professionals in the applied behavioral sciences since 1979.
He helped found the Corporate Leadership Program in 1991, and still
prizes his faculty role as his most gratifying professional activity.
Denny's primary interest is in developing the "self" within the
organizational system. He created a comprehensive theory and self-assessment
instrument for training facilitators that is used by organizational
clients and in the Corporate Leadership Program. He also devised
unique methods to help leaders integrate systemic thinking into
their practices in the workplace.
Denny has applied these approaches in training programs for leaders,
managers, supervisors and workers across the U.S. and abroad since
1992. His approach to leadership development emphasizes and authentic
and self-aware presence, a clear and articulate vision, and a well-developed
set of interpersonal skills.
Denny lives in Sammamish, Washington, with his wife, Brenda Kerr.
